House Party

Have you heard of House Party?

here's the blurb from their website..
A House Party^™ is thousands of parties across the country, hosted by people like you. Each event is sponsored by a leading brand and focuses on something cool that the sponsor wants its best fans to experience firsthand and share with their friends.

What THAT means... is that companies have regular people [like me and you] try out their products for free by hosting a party!

I' was picked last year to host a Huggie's Potty Time party. They sent me tons of coupons - DVD's for potty training - a fun 'potty time dance' game and other random fun items. I had a few friends over and we enjoyed the coupons/games.

How do you get picked for a party? you ask.

You apply for the parties you're interested in - and if you're lucky - they pick you.

Then what?

You try out the products. Snap some photos. & review the products to the site.

It's really quite neat.

Story People

I LOVE Story People.
so much that I capitalized LOVE.
and made it italic bold.

There's no real science behind it.
either you get it..
or you don't.

some people get it.
some don't.

easy as that.

Each time I read one that hits close to the heart I end up thinking of a photo.
or a specific moment in my life.
or..
sometimes something will happen that will make me think of one of those quotes.

here's an example.

then the appropriate thing to do would be sigh. and smile. and think of the exact moment this photo was taken. the exact feeling I was having.

So. if you see me rambling random sayings all over my blog followed by "SP" it's probably from Story People.

I mean honestly.
the possibilities are endless.
along those lines.

& as if it isn't bad enough - the cupcake/cake obsession going around.

it's not like I obsessively watch these shows or anything. ;)

Anywho. my point in this post - is that often I come across sites/shows/ideas that I just HAVE to share.

Miss Mamie's Cupcakes

I can honestly say that I haven't had one of her beautiful cupcakes. OR amazing cakes. but - I've enjoyed following her on facebook and stalking her blog. or stalking blog posts about her cakes.
really I know. I sound so stalkerish. but really - her work is amazing! I wouldn't be sending you to her site if I didn't think it was worth while.
She's also from my hometown.
which makes it even cooler because I can say that I kind of sort of know her.
right?
long story short. here's one of those places I'd be selfish not to share :)

*The 'Easter Egg Roll' is a tradition of my in-laws. Each year they decorate Eggs and have a competition rolling eggs (bracket style) to see who can be the last egg standing rolling. We chip in $5 per egg and the winner gets the cash. Even though my egg was beautiful - it wasn't very strong!

I own one. But each time I go shopping - these are what I'm looking for.

I especially love these when the top and bottom have different colors.

Or patterns on the top with a solid bottom.

Mod Podge

Honestly - I've never used Mod Podge before.
but.
I've read a lot about it.
If you can imagine - there's even a blog dedicated to it.
(because duh, there's a blog dedicated to everything)

I 'follow' this blog - and check it out occasionally. She really has some neat ideas! She must if she has 4870 followers on blogger and 10,460 'likes' on facebook. true story.

Couponing

TLC.

Who doesn't love TLC.

Extreme Couponing has been making people realize how much money they can potentially save.

I wouldn't call myself an Extreme Couponer? [if that's even a word] by any means. I clip - I've used probably... 20 total. [grocery coupons.. not AE 20% off coupons..for example]

But. Thank you to this show - I've started researching.

What better way to learn about the possibilities than other bloggers??

So.  I found this blog - that was really quite educational.

She explains what.how.when.where - the details!

she also lists links for printable coupons.

I've used printable ones before. usually from Swagbucks - Swagbucks. 'sigh' that's a whole 'nother blogpost on it's own.

I've also used P&G (Proctor & Gamble) coupons that come in my local newspaper. Like I said - I've probably only used 20 total but when I did - I sure felt great. My very first time I saved $3.50! That doesn't sound like a lot - but it sure does add up.

& I'm a gambler. so that's 3 plays for the MegaMillions :) just by clipping coupons.

Now for me - what I've learned - an important thing to remember when using coupons is ...

You don't have to buy something just because you have a coupon for it!!

I would see... 'hey! I have a coupon for $5.00 off a swiffer wet jet starter pack!!' and my first instinct is to buy it - because duh - I'm saving $5.00!! but.. do I really need that? no. not really. no.
